The United States in World Affairs
The Department of History at The University of Iowa invites applications for a historian of The United States in World Affairs. We welcome candidates whose research and teaching interests focus on the United States in its global setting, broadly defined to include the history of imperialism and colonialism, war and diplomacy, migration and immigration, economic and cultural globalization, transnational movements, and human rights. Teaching duties will include graduate and undergraduate courses in the successful candidates area of expertise, as well as a United States in World Affairs survey. The search is open at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor (PhD in hand by August 22, 2007) or early Associate Professor. Screening begins November 1 but new applicants will be considered until the appointment is made. Evaluation of written work plays a major role in the Departments hiring decisions.
