CFP for a session on "New Directions in Medieval History" sponsored by the Haskins Society at the 50th International Medieval Congress on Medieval Studies May 14-17, 2015, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Of interest are studies that engage areas of investigation or methods of inquiry that, while not necessarily new to the discipline, have yet to receive considerable attention from medievalists, e.g. transnational history, borderlands studies, environmental history, LGBT history, history of the body, etc.
While thematically open, papers do need to align with the general focus of the Haskins Society chronologically and geographically, i.e. North/Western Europe in the Early/Central Middle Ages to 1300. Papers that include this region in a comparative fashion would be welcome as well.
