All doctoral students of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Bern as well as external candidates whose dissertation is to be written and maintained in Bern are invited to apply for membership in the Graduate School of the Faculty of Humanities (GS @ IASH).
In addition to membership in the Graduate School year will start-up scholarships advertised. They are promising doctoral students the opportunity to develop a competitive application for a scholarship or a project job within the first six months and submit. After another six months, so the continuation of the dissertation should be guaranteed as part of a third-party funding. Payment will be made monthly from October 2014 (CHF 3,330 gross). An application for a start-up scholarship is also an application for membership in the Graduate School. But a rejection of the application for a start-up grant does not mean the rejection of admission to the Graduate School.
In addition to a degree that qualified for doctoral studies at the Faculty of Philosophy and History, you should meet the following requirements:
My dissertation project is technically high quality.
It is interdisciplinary connection enabled, so you can benefit from cross-disciplinary doctoral program.
You have sufficient knowledge of the German and English language.
Your primary advisor is Professor at the Phil-hist. Faculty (for the application satisfies a concise commitment).
For a start-up grant: They are between 1 and 10 2014 1 3 2015 no wage ratio over 25%.

If you are applying for a start-up grant the following additional documents are required:

Indication whether membership in the GS @ IASH indicates any desired without a scholarship
Naming the institution at which the application is to be submitted, and the targeted delivery vessel
Schedule for the duration of the fellowship (1 page)
