I am pleased to announce the release of the audio essay entitled “The first time I heard the word: First encounters with the word nigger as a racial epithet”, written, narrated, and co-produced by Dr. Anthony R. Jerry. The essay was recorded, edited, and co-produced by Darnelle Melvin. This controversial topic is the first of a series of oral histories that will address race and its social implications, and I hope will serve as a catalyst for an ongoing discourse. An abridged version is freely available for streaming via soundcloud.com. The hyperlink provided will direct you to the recordings page.
For information on acquiring the full audio essay; suggestions; or any comments, feel free to contact me. Thank you for your time.
