Emerging Scholarly Monograph Competition for Ph.D. Graduates
De Gruyter has announced the launch of the Emerging Scholarly Monograph Competition. Its mission is to encourage nascent scientists and writers as well as to promote research excellence and publishing in open access. The ESMC is founded by De Gruyter Open and attracts entries from all over the world.
The contest is open at all scientists who have completed their PhD and who would like to see their dissertation turned into a book as well as published and promoted by professional open access publisher .
For many academics, their thesis is often the first monograph and the first step in building a reputation and a career. De Gruyter Open intends to develop two excellent dissertations (one in STM, one in Humanities & Social Sciences) into scholarly books that will not only become essential reading in the given disciplines, but will also appeal to the broader scientific community, and beyond.
Applications are welcome from all disciplines covered by De Gruyter Open. Entrants must have obtained their PhD not before June 1st, 2010. Details, deadlines, terms and conditions are available here:
The winners will additionally receive a Kindle Paperwhite with their book downloaded in mobile format.
