The Italian journal of geopolitics GEOPOLITICA. Rivista dell’Istituto in Alti Studi di Geopolitica e Scienze Ausiliarie calls submissions for the Spring 2014 issue. The section theme of this issue is India: power and contradictions. This issue will be dedicated to the analysis of various aspects related to India, an emerging power, in an important year for the country, ahead of general elections scheduled for April 2014 after ten years of Congress’s government. This issue of GEOPOLITICA will examine in particular a series of topics including but not limited to:
Political geography of India, position of the Indian state in Asia, in the Subcontinent and in the Indian Ocean.
Analysis of Indian geostrategic doctrines with references to main Indian geographers, scholars and experts of geopolitical theory. Considerations on New Delhi’s geostrategic role and geopolitical theories of non-Indian scholars.
History of India, before and after independence. Indian strategy’s variations from Cold War to present day.
Analysis of internal political situation and outlook after 2014. Considerations about current challenges that could limit New Delhi’s growth: infrastructural deficiencies; trends to autonomy and fragmentation of States; influence of Federation’s States in foreign policy; tensions based on communal lines; situation of minorities; social questions, poverty, underdevelopment and woman role in society.
Analysis of the economic situation of the country after Indian growth slowdown between 2012 and 2013.
India as a power of XXI century. The role of military and aerospace industry. Considerations on aviation, navy and army, nuclear policy of Indian nation and relations with main military partners (France, Israel, Russia).
The India’s role in Asia. New Delhi’s strategy in South Asia and approach towards the region’s countries (SAARC); India-Pakistan relations and the future of Afghan question; “Look East Policy”, Indian action in Asia-Pacific and links with ASEAN, Japan, South Korea and Australia; Indian influence in West and Central Asia (trends of India-Iran-Gulf monarchies-Israel relations).
The new global multipolar context and Indian strategic autonomy: New Delhi’s relationship with United States, Russia, China and European Union. India and the BRICS forum.
India and other contexts: Latin America, Africa and International Organizations.
The situation of Italy-India bond, future perspectives and actions needed to improve the relation. Presence of “Made in Italy” in India and considerations on Indian investments in Italy and immigration issues.
Abstracts that are no longer than 400 words and a short (maximum one paragraph) biography of the author should be submitted by March 10th, 2014, electronically by this contact form: [click]. Abstracts are accepted only in English and Italian. By no more than 10 days after the submission, authors of approved abstracts will be asked to submit their full articles for peer review. There is not a maximum length for articles, though is recommended to not exceed 4500 words. Articles are accepted in English, Italian, French and Spanish. All articles proposed should be unpublished in Italian language and not proposed to third party at the same time. By submitting his or her article, the Author assert that he or she owns the publishing rights in Italian language and cedes them in exclusive to GEOPOLITICA. Articles in languages different from Italian may be published translated. The deadline for full articles is April 10th, 2014. An invitation to submit a full article does not guarantee publication. Even articles approved by the referees may be not published due to lacking of room in the issue, but they will be published, with the author’s assent, in a following issue or in the journal’s website. The issue 1 of the third volume of GEOPOLITICA is scheduled to appear in June/July 2014. GEOPOLITICA is the journal of the Italian no-profit Institute of Advanced Studies in Geopolitics and Auxiliary Sciences (Istituto di Alti Studi in Geopolitica e Scienze Ausiliarie, IsAG) based in Rome and is the first and sole refereed journal of geopolitics in Italian language. Each monographic issue contains invited papers by recognized experts of the subject and peer-reviewed papers freely submitted from scholars following a public call for papers.
