OPERA INDOORS AND OUTDOORS: Rethinking opera reception
Department of Music of the University of Nottingham, Nottingham 4th November 2013.
This Royal Music Association (RMA) Study Day seeks to explore an array of different and exciting new approaches and methodologies in the field of Opera Studies. The interactive nature of the opera experience is at the heart of the day, which will focus on the connections between the opera in performance and audience reception. The study wishes to make the distinction between indoor and outdoor opera production and reception, possible proposals on the following subjects would therefore be particularly welcome:
- Live performances in theatres.
- Street flash mobs.
- Live transmissions.
- Encore transmissions in cinema.
- Open air festival theatres.
We welcome proposals of up to 250 words for 20 minute papers on any of these topics (interpreted broadly), or on any other topic relating to the theme of the study day (you should also allow for at least 10 minutes of questions). They should be sent to conference organiser Cesar Moreno at firstname.lastname@example.org and include the following: name, institution, email address and any particular audio/visual requirements.
Dedline of abstract 20 November 2013.
Please contact Cesar Moreno for further information: email@example.com
