NEH summer institute for college and university faculty will be held in June, 2014, at Marist College Poughkeepsie, NY. The topic is "meanings of properpty," addressed by visiting scholars such as Mary Poovey, NYU, John Searle, University of California at Berkeley, Hendrik Hartog, Princeton University, Alan Ryan, Princeton University, Kenneth Pomeranz, University of Chicago, Robert J. Goldstein, US Military Academy at West Point, and Stuart Banner, UCLA.
The participants will have access to local university libraries, as well as the New York Historical Society in NYC and various facilities in Albany. The Hudson River Valley Institute journal will provide resources for the history of the region, along with local scholars and other resources.
The project is interdisciplinary, welcoming faculty in history, political science, economics, philosophy, gender studies, legal studies, literary studies, and science studies.
