Call for Applications: The Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Resident Fellows Program
Deadline: December 3, 2013
The Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Centerís mission is to promote innovation, creativity, and impact-oriented solutions to critical global problems. Residencies and conferences at the Center, located in northern Italy, support work in the Foundationís key issue areas: Advance Health, Revalue Ecosystems, Secure Livelihoods, and Transform Cities. In addition, the Center welcomes proposals from all fields that advance the Foundationsí long-standing mission to promote the well-being of humanity.
The Resident Fellows Program allows for focused work, uninterrupted by the professional and personal demands of daily life. In addition to time for dedicated work on individual projects and for reflection during the day, building new connections and collegial interaction with other residents is a defining characteristic of the Bellagio experience. During a residency, people of diverse expertise and backgrounds come together in a thought-provoking, creative, collegial environment that helps create change and have impact on a wide range of world issues. Residents include an international group of academics, writers, artists, scientists, journalists, practitioners, researchers, and policymakers. Meals and informal presentations of residents' work afford an opportunity for dynamic discussion and engagement with each other. The combination of quiet time for individual, focused work and connections with such a diverse community is unparalleled.
Academic Writing, Arts & Literary Arts, and Practitioner residencies typically last up to four weeks with spouses/life partners permitted to accompany residents. Joint and team applications are also welcomed. The Foundation provides meals and accommodation to all resident fellows.
Applications for Academic Writing as well as Arts & Literary Arts residencies are due by December 3, 2013 for a residency period beginning August 19, 2014 through November 27, 2014. Applications from practitioners and for conferences are accepted on a rolling basis.
