Georg Eckert Research Prize
2013 Call for Applications
In 2014 the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research will award its biennial prize for academic excellence in the field of international research into educational media. The prize, which is sponsored by the Westermann Publishing Group in Braunschweig, will be awarded to an academic work that addresses cultural, political, sociological or educational practice aspects of textbooks and educational media.
The prize is endowed with 2,500 euro and will also cover printing costs of up to 2,500 euro for publication in the academic book series “Eckert. Die Schriftenreihe. Studien des Georg-Eckert-Instituts zur internationalen Bildungsmedienforschung” (Eckert. The book series. Studies by the Georg Eckert Institute on research findings in international educational media) published by V&R unipress, Göttingen. If the work has already been published, the printing expenses may be used to subsidise a conference or a research grant at the Georg Eckert Institute. The prize may be shared between multiple recipients.
The prize will be awarded to a monograph, doctoral thesis or post-doctoral work of outstanding academic quality or to an equally exceptional work by more than one author, in which case the prize will be awarded to the editor or editors. We will accept entries from authors directly as well as nominations by third parties. The work entered may be written in German or English and must be either unpublished or have gone to press no longer than two years before the date of entry for the award.
A special prize for young academics may be awarded to a master’s thesis. This prize of 500 euro is sponsored by the Georg Eckert Institute. The work must be accompanied by two expert opinions. The recipient of the prize will have the opportunity for their work to be published online on Edumeres.net, the specialist information portal for educational media research.
An independent jury of renowned national and international academics will select the winning entry; the decisions of the jury are final and there will be no right of legal appeal. The presentation will take place in autumn 2014. For any questions regarding the prize please contact email@example.com or +49 (0)531/123103-148
All applications must be received by 31 August 2013.
Please send your application documents (the work to be considered, a brief abstract, or expert opinions if applicable, and a CV) by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post (in duplicate) to:
