On Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2 PM in the Anne Louise Davis Gallery of Plainfield Public Library, featured speaker, Dr. Linda Caldwell Epps, will discuss how New Jersey, as the most southern northern state played a significant role in the emancipation to slaves seeking freedom. That quest for freedom began from the earliest days of the settlement and continued until the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. We are still defining the concept of freedom.
A career educator, Dr. Linda Caldwell Epps has served various educational institutions for over 40 years and is the current President and CEO of 1804 Consultants, an organization whose mission is the advancement of not for profit educational and cultural institutions. Born and raised in Elizabeth, all of Dr. Caldwell Epps studies focused on the uniqueness definition of American history and culture through the influence of the rich diversity of its population.
