The Association for the Study of Modern Italy Post-Graduate Summer School 2013

CALL FOR PAPERS
We welcome proposals from postgraduates for papers on any aspect of Modern Italian culture, history, politics or society from the eighteenth to the twenty-first century and from any academic discipline. Papers can be in English or Italian and should be no more than 20 minutes in length.
Postgraduates will present their papers in panel sessions and then receive feedback from senior scholars and junior colleagues in a welcoming and supportive environment.
We also welcome proposals for posters on the same topics. Posters will be presented in separate poster sessions during the Summer School.
The Summer School will include a training session on How to turn your PhD thesis into a book', run by Nicola Parkin, Associate Editor (Politics & International Studies) from Routledge, together with Dr Eleanor Chiari (UCL) and Dr Niamh Cullen (University College Dublin), who have recently published their doctoral dissertations.

on 'America and the politics of modernization in Italy, from Mussolini to Marchionne'
Professor Christopher Duggan (University of Reading)
on 'Popular opinion under Fascism: the evidence of diaries and letters'

The Summer School is free for all members of ASMI, including those who register on the day.
A limited number of travel grants will be available.
