We are currently seeking a third presenter for the 2014 OAH conference in Atlanta. Our tentatively-titled panel, "Dangerous Bodies," explores themes of safety, bodily integrity, and perceptions public peril in American culture between WWII and the 1990s. One paper examines gender and shifting definitions of rape on college campuses in the 1980s, while the other considers epilepsy, licensing laws, and debates about car crashes in the 1950s. For a third paper, we would be interested in any topic that fits this broad theme, though we feel that issues of race and urban history have an important place in the discussion.
