The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (http://www.unc.edu/depts/german) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track assistant professorship in German literature and culture, 1750-1830, to begin July 1, 2009. Ph.D. by date of appointment preferred. We welcome candidates with an interdisciplinary profile, including those with secondary interests in philosophy and intellectual history; media studies; gender and sexuality studies; postcolonial studies; and other fields germane to the study of German literature and culture around 1800. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute fully to the undergraduate program in German at UNC-Chapel Hill and the new Carolina-Duke Joint Ph.D. in German Studies. Native or near-native fluency in German and English required.
