North Georgia College and State University has adopted a course in modern world history as a core curriculm requirment begining in Fall, 1998. All history majors must take a minimum of the two- semester survey course in world civilization and two upper division courses in world history. The current catalog lists the following courses in world history: World Civilization to 1500, World Civilization since 1500, the Historiography of World History, Cutural Encounters and Exchanges in World History, Islam in World History, and the Developing World. Future catalogs will include a course The Year 1968 in World History and other new courses as new faculty are added and the program expands.
