While examining the writings of Margaret Sanger, I have come across quite a few references to vitalism in her arguments against masturbation. Although I have a few references to vitalism in British history, I was wondering if anyone could help me with secondary sources regarding it and associated ideas(such as spermatic economy, etc) within an American history context. The time period I am especially concerned with is the late 19th century to the end of the 1920s. But any references outside of that would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help offered.
