Query From Lauren Coodley laurenil@napanet.net 03 Nov 1997
...Recently some of my students challenged me to disprove a colleague's claim that the Thomas Jefferson/Sally Hemings relationship has never been authenticated. Within the subfield of "women's history," this has been a fairly accepted "fact," since Fawn Brody and later Barbara Chase-Riboud's book. I would very much appreciate any data from list members, so that I can provide it to my students or discover that I've been wrong all these years.
