April 4-5, 1995

>Date: Tue, 4 Apr 1995
>From: STEPHEN STURGEON <sturgeon@ucsu.Colorado.EDU>

Sen. William Knowland's papers are located at the Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley. I don't know whether they are fully processed or not, but I would assume they probably are. If you would like to know a bit more about his papers, feel free to e-mail me directly.

Have you checked the Hayden papers and the Goldwater papers there at ASU? May be a lead.

Berkeley's Bancroft Library has many hundreds of boxes of Senator Knowland's papers, so you might wish to begin looking through that material if you are able to get to Berkeley.

In response to Scott Zeman's inquiry, the papers of Senator Knowland are at the Bancroft Library at the University of California, Berkeley. In addition, in the past year or so, Donald Ritchie of the U.S. Senate Historical Office published a very good piece on Knowland in one of the biographical reference works, although I have forgotten which one. It has a brief bibliography attached.
