Subject: CONNECTIONS: American History and Culture in an
International Perspective.
The international newsletter, CONNECTIONS, is a global forum in which
scholars can present interests, needs, and offerings and learn about
those of their colleagues around the world. Evolving from
conversations among and efforts by scholars to internationalize the
practice of American history and culture, CONNECTIONS has been
creating and encouraging person-to-person contacts for the past two
years.
CONNECTIONS is a joint project of the Organization of American
Historians and the American Studies Association. With
the added support of the United States Information Agency,
CONNECTIONS reaches scholars in countries from Algeria to Zambia. An
international advisory board and body of regional facilitators
contribute to making CONNECTIONS a successful global endeavour.
We encourage H-USA subscribers to utilize CONNECTIONS as an
additional forum for contacting their colleagues around the world.
CONNECTIONS appears quarterly in a printed format which is
included in the OAH Newsletter, the ASA Newsletter and is
distributed to scholars by USIA posts in Africa, Latin America, and
Eurasia. A monthly electronic edition of CONNECTIONS reaches over 800
e-mail subscribers. CONNECTIONS is also now available on the World
Wide Web: http://www.georgetown.edu/crossroads/asanews/connects.html
Electronic subscriptions are free of charge. Individual print and
diskette (WP 5.1) subscriptions are available at a nominal fee.
Postings in CONNECTIONS are limited to 100 words and are divided into
the following categories: Conversations, Collaborative Research;
Research Material Requests; Syllabus Exchanges, Teaching Methods;
Books, Journals, Materials, Fellowships; Conferences, Calls for
Papers, Journal Submissions; Student, Scholar Exchanges; Housing
Accommodations.
