Newsday organized this history of a major suburban area outside New York City. The site has narrative histories of all the towns on the Island and chronologies of special ethnic and other (sports, transportation etc.). It also includes some reminiscences from famous Long Islanders, an interesting history of Levittown, the mass-produced suburb, including an interview with William Levitt. The site is journalistic in its approach, but very comprehensive.
