Welcome to H-Urban's Urban Studies Programs, a resource dedicated to presenting information about the various academic programs that teach urban history, urban studies and/or urban-related disciplines (e.g., archaeology, architecture, demography, environment, gender, geography, planning, technologies, and transportation).

The Urban Studies Programs pages primarily contain links to lists of universities and/or college programs. Generic lists of schools are included because they can be a helpful reference point for program searches, and some sites provide in-depth information on institutions and specific programs of study. The titles, scope, and design of individual programs change frequently, often from semester to semester, so it is important to verify details obtained online.

The Descriptions and Comments page contains program details offered by instructors or directors of specific programs. Links are provided to comments made on the H-Urban discussion list about individual urban-related programs or centers for urban studies.

The New Addition to Methods Archive icon on the H-Urban Urban Programs pages highlights an item recently added to the listings.

There have been rapid and dramatic changes in how others are educated, and the flux within urban history and urban studies has made it imperative for working professionals to know where the fields have been and where they might go.

H-Urban counts on viewer involvement to ensure that the Urban Studies Programs is accurate and timely in its coverage. Program resources not included in these pages can be added by posting the information to the H-Urban discussion list at H-Urban@h-net.msu.edu. Program faculty and designers are encouraged to submit detailed program descriptions to further enhance the usefulness of the Urban Studies Programs site for students, teachers, scholars, and professionals in urban-related fields.
