I recently bought the Illinois Press book _Africa in America_ by Michael Mullins (Gerald Mullins?), but I had not seen any reviews of it beforehand. Does anybody have an opinion on the book (which looks at slave acculturation and resistance in the Caribbean and American South from 1770-1831 or so), or know of the critical reception to it?

Any info appreciated; thanks.

A fairly critical review of Mullin's book (Gerald and Michael are the same person) by Roderick McDonald appeared in the JAH (Mar.1994), p.1446.
