The 2006 John G. Cawelti Book Award of the American Culture Association

The American Culture Association solicits your nomination of a Noteworthy Book on American Culture published during the calendar year 2005. Any author, journal, or press (academic or trade) may nominate books for The John G. Cawelti Award

Please contact the Award Committee chairpersons whose names are listed below for instructions regarding submissions. In addition, one copy should be sent to the Review Editor, The Journal of American Culture.

The deadline for submission is October 31, 2005

The nominated book should be a serious scholarly study, methodologically and theoretically sophisticated, demonstrating a range of knowledge about American cultural experience. The winning book can approach its subject from a variety of disciplines. For instance, methods might include anthropological, political, or other social sciences, literature or film studies, feminist analysis, biographical framework, or other cultural studies approaches. The book should be multidisciplinary and should reflect, in whatever way, the diversity of American cultures.

The winning book will be announced at the April 2006 American Culture Association national convention. Nominated books will be reviewed in The Journal of American Culture.
