Michigan Authors, Michigan Books -- (2008) Grant Awarded: April 2008 Type of Grant: Michigan People, Michigan Places ... Our Stories, Our Lilves Sponsor: Clarke Historical Library, Central Michigan University Collaborators: WCMU Public Radio, MSU Special Collections Department, State Library of Michigan Contact: Frank Boles, 989-774-3352, boles1fj@cmich.edu Award: $15,000 Website: clarke.cmich.edu/ This is media project will record and broadcast public radio presentations made by or about authors who live or have lived in Michigan or who have written books on a Michigan-related topic. There will be 12 specials, each of 57-minute length, and the programs will air once each month over the course of a year. Programs will also be available via WCMU’s website which covers a 52-county area. Broadcast subjects will be culled from existing programs such as the Michigan Notable Books at the State Library, and lectures scheduled by MSU and CMU, as well as the Michigan Reads program. Project goal is to make these author discussions available to a wider audience as a logical extension of speaker appearance schedules. Each selected tape will also be edited to create a shorter, three-minute version that can be used for a brief broadcast or for radio spots and/or features. |
