Making Memories in Michigan -- (2008) Grant Awarded: April 2008 Type of Grant: The Great Michigan Read Sponsor: Flint Public Library Contact: JoAnne Mondowney, Director. 810-232-7111 ext 5, jmondowney@fpl.info Award: $2,950 Website: www.fpl.info “Making Memories in Michigan” will use The Nick Adams Stories by incorporating it into the Flint Public Library’s summer reading program. Library patrons will be invited to write their own short stories that will be displayed at the library. At the end of the program, these stories will be added to a scrapbook and placed in the local history collection. Three reading and discussion sessions will be held and the library will host a speaker for a presentation on the book. Meanwhile, the Sloan will host the “Up North with the Hemingways” exhibit while the FPL will display MSU’s “Welcome to Idlewild: The Black Eden of Michigan” exhibit. A family oriented fly-fishing demonstration by the Greater Flint Minnow Muddlers will take place during the programming period. |
