Michigan Humanities Council asks you to get involved with your community and with supporting the humanities in Michigan and to join Michigan Humanities Council in its efforts to bring these valuable educational opportunities to the people of Michigan. Here are some of the ways you can help...

Become A Friend of the Humanities
Be a contributing partner as a friend of the Humanities, and receive a gift from the Humanities in return! You can help bring public humanities programs, and more, to Michigan and to your community by making a tax-deductible donation as a Friend of the Humanities. Your gift may be matched by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Your contribution will also be recognized by Michigan Humanities Council on its website and in a following newsletter.

Directory of Humanities Professionals
If you are looking for a humanities expert for a cultural project or program, then the Directory of Humanities Professionals is the place for you! Just link to the search page to find a variety of categories to match the individual humanities professional to the topic of interest: search by last name, region, county, area of expertise/specialization, or academic affiliation. Then, under that specific listing, select the individual professional to review their professional background, their expertise and their interests. You can directly contact the professional to discuss your project and to learn more about the particular topic of your inquiry... if you need help to match humanities resources with local needs, consider applying for a Quick Grant which can provide up to $500 towards bringing the professional to your project.

Contact Your Legislator
Michigan Humanities Council helps provide the local public humanities with programming focusing on local history and culture. The Council would like to remind project directors that legislators should be informed (and invited when possible) about publicly funded projects. The ability of Michigan Humanities Council to assist your organization and community by providing cultural opportunities depends on legislative appropriations. It's an obligation to inform legislators of the value of taxpayer-supported programs. The resources on this page will help you to do so. This information is being made available because we realize that there is no substitute for support from the locals... legislative contact from local project directors and citizens is of the utmost importance. We encourage you to use the resources on this page to inform your legislators of your projects and the role that Michigan Humanities Council has played in helping fund your project.
