AWARDS: The Legislative Studies Section has three awards for outstanding scholarship. Of long standing are the Richard Fenno book award and the CQ Press best paper award. New this year is the Carl Albert Dissertation Award in Legislative Studies for the best doctoral dissertation. Since the dissertation award is offered for the first time, we have decided to allow 1997 or 1998 copyright dates for eligibility, and we have extended the deadline to May 1 for submission of nominations. Nominations for the book award and the best paper award are due by March 1. Please check the guidelines that appear in Section Announcements. The names of committee members are also listed in the December 1998 issue of PS: Political Science and Politics.

NEW OFFICERS: In a short time, I will be appointing a Nominating Committee to propose a new set of officers and executive committee members for LSS. The Nominating Committee will present its recommendations at the 1999 annual business meeting. Please send me suggestions, as many as you would like, and I will forward them to the committee. I should note that my E-mail address in the APSA Directory is misprinted, and thus appears incorrectly elsewhere as well. The correct address is: wlf@nervm.nerdc.ufl.edu. Your input will be appreciated.
