Society for Industrial Archaeology
The Society for Industrial Archeology promotes the study and preservation of the physical survivals of technological and industrial development and change. The SIA Annual Conference will be held in Sacramento, CA May 30-June 2, 1996. It will be hosted by the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento and Historic Knight Foundry in the gold-country town of Sutter Creek. In addition to paper sessions, the conference will feature tours to a number of unique manufacturing, transportation and historic sites in Central California. The SIA invites proposals for papers (20 min.), panel discussions (90 min.) and work in progress reports (10 min.). Of particular interest will be papers and panels relating to railroads, foundries, architectural manufacturing, mining, and the industrial aspects of agriculture. Please send a one page abstract with the title of the presentation, names of participants, brief curriculum vitae, addresses, email, tel/ fax numbers, and audio-visual requirements. Abstracts are due by 1 December 1995. Notification of acceptance will be sent by 15 January 1995.
