regarding Judge Pickles, there is his book entitled STRAIGHT FROM THE BENCH: Is Justice Just? (London: Coronet Books, 1988). His chapter 2 is entitled How Judges are Controlled and Sacked, so that might be of some interest. Good Luck. bdavis
