Background

In September 2009, San Francisco State University will host a conference exploring the question and place of rights in American history, politics, and society. The conference will meet on the campus of San Francisco State University on September 17 and 18, 2009. Americans have fought over questions of individual and collective rights since the nation’s founding. Our goal is to bring together a wide variety of people from a range of academic, activist, legal, and community spaces to examine the place of rights within the broader context of American society.


Registration

Registration is due by September 1, 2009. $30 per day / $50 for both days. Please make checks out to "Treasurer, Rights Conference," and mail to:

All sessions are free and open to the public. The registration fee includes lunch both days and refreshments throughout the day.


Hotel Information

The conference hotel is The Chancellor, located at 433 Powell Street on Union Square [Powell St. BART].

Conference participants receive a discounted rate of $125 for reservations made before July 17, 2009, and $145 for reservations made before August 17.
