The American Society for Legal History offers numerous benefits for scholars of legal
history. The society holds annual conferences to foster intellectual development in legal history worldwide. While the organization is primarily based within the United States, its membership and its scope are international.
Members receive Law & History Review, America's leading legal history journal as well as
access to back issues online at historycooperative.org and
JSTOR. The journal covers Anglo-American,
Continental, ancient, and comparative legal history. Society members also enjoy a 30% discount
on the regular price of books in the Studies in Legal History series.
Update Your Membership
Profile
Charlie Donahue continues
to urge members to update their profiles on the membership directory that is
maintained at the
University
of
Illinois Press
.
“We are in particular need of current email addresses of the members,
since this is the most efficient method for us to communicate with
you,” Donahue said. “Also, many of the fields of interest
that you checked on the membership application form when you joined are now
out of date.” The directory is searchable by members (by name,
location, or fields of interest, etc.) by going to http://www.press.uillinois.edu/journals/lhr/directory/directory.html.
To update your information go down to the bottom of the search page and click
on “Log into the update area.” In order to change your data
you need to have your member number, which appears above your name on the
mailing label of the Law and History Review.
Members also receive our semi-annual newsletter.
Newsletters offer information about upcoming conferences, awards in legal history, as well as
opportunities within the field.
