1) Public Transportation: Within 20-minute walk of central downtown;
buses running all the time. It's a nice walk.
2) Lodgings: There are some older downtown hotels that offer
reasonable
rates, a fine example being the Urdinola, on Guadalupe Victoria, two
blocks down from the main plaza, which is clean, very inexpensive, and
has a passable restaurant. The walk from this and two or three others in
the area is about 20 minutes.
3) Restaurants: The downtown area does not have fine dining available
except at El Tapanco on Calle Allende. There are plenty of taco stands,
second and third tier places, and they are all very reasonable.
