   3) Hours: Monday-Friday, approximately. 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and 2:00
p.m.-5:00 p.m.
(Although official hours are longer, these are the actual hours.)

B) HOLDINGS

   1) Contents: Colonial Central America; national-period Guatemala,
including some municipal
records; newspaper collection may be open sporadically.
   2) Catalogues: The card catalogue is quite extensive, especially for
colonial period and 19th
century.  Not all holdings are catalogued.
   3) Procedures for Requesting Documents, Records: Closed stacks;
request documents in person,
preferably by call number from card catalogue; staff usually delivers
the documents within an hour to
the reading room.
   4) Will do Searches Requested by Mail: No

C) REPRODUCTION FACILITIES

   1) Photocopying: The archive owns two or three photocopy machines but
no access or service is
currently available.  Freelance transcribers can be hired to copy
documents longhand.
   2) Microfilm: None

D) FACILITIES

   1) Research Room

      c) Staff - The head archivist is Licda. Anna Carla Ericastilla,
who is most knowledgeable about
the archive's holdings and is very accessible for consultation.
   2) Computer Access: The reading room has three 2-prong electrical
outlets which may be used for
a fee if you have a computer or scanner, provided no one else has
already occupied the outlet for the
day.  If bringing a computer, bring batteries if possible and/or a
multiple-outlet surge protector.
   3) Wheelchair Access: No
   4) Toilet Facilities: Yes
