Responsible for compiling an exhaustive, multi-language bibliography of writings by and about the late author Jerzy Kosinski, including brief annotations, and indexes. Requirements Bachelors degree, preferably in the humanities. Working knowledge of Polish and/or French preferred. Experience compiling bibliographies and performing research in English and foreign language sources. Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style. Attention to detail. Asher Library is the largest circulating Judaica library in the upper Midwest, with a collection of over 100,000 volumes. The conference will take place during Chanukka, 5-7.12.99 The conference will consist of three types of discussion: 1) lectures to the general public. 2) scholars' discussion forums. 3) Textual-Study Groups. The main theme of the conference will be "Periodization in Rabbinic Thought". In the context of this theme the following discussions will take place: Methodological discussion: A. Problems relating to the definition of the "rabbinic" period. B. How significant is the distinction between the tannaitic and amoraic period. Thematic discussion: C. Rabbinic views of the division of history into periods; rabbinic concepts of time; and in the spirit of the eve of the millenium - the end of time and messianic times in rabbinic and related literatures. Papers on topics that are outside the main theme of the conference will also be considered. Bet Morasha is particularly interested in developing a network of scholars involved in the study of rabbinic thought, both in and beyond Israel. In order to encourage participation of scholars from other countries, some financial support will be available to visiting scholars, presenting papers at the conference.
