H-HistoryDay will provide a forum for the more than 40,000 teachers,
public historians, librarians, and other educators who participate in
National History Day each year. The discussion list will allow them
to
share methodological and thematic ideas, approaches, and problems.
Both
veteran History Day teachers and those participating in the program
for
the first time will benefit from exchanging ideas; the list will also
provide an opportunity for public historians and librarians to
communicate with teachers. Anticipated topics for discussion include
the integration of History Day into the curriculum, the nuts and bolts
of doing History Day projects, the development of research and
critical
thinking skills, the use of libraries and other research centers,
suggestions for specific research topics related to the annual theme,
the availability and use of primary sources, recommendations for
secondary sources, and approaches for museums and historic sites to
work
with History Day students.
