ABOUT US LAWA-Ghana is a non-profit company, incorporated on May 27, 1998 under the laws of the Republic of Ghana. It was incorporated by a group of female lawyers in Ghana, who participated in a program known as the Leadership and Advocacy for Women in Africa (LAWA) program, which was initiated by the Women's Law and Public Policy Fellowship Program (WLPPFP) of Georgetown University Law Center (GULC), with sponsorship from the the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The goal of LAWA-Ghana is to use legal strategies to improve the lives of women in Ghana in particular and in Africa as a whole. The mission of LAWA-Ghana is to work for the reform of laws and practices that discriminate against women in Ghana and to promote and advocate for the enactment of laws that protect women's human rights. The objectives of LAWA-Ghana are as follows:-
