Re VICTIMIZATION; I quite agree with Gerald Feldman's warning against
equating German suffering with that of the Jews and other Nazi victims.
Readers will probably know of Heidegger's disingenuous attempt in 1948
to equate the expulsions of "East Germans" in 1945 with those of the
Jews.  Herbert Marcuse's reply demolished that argument then (see texts
in The Heidegger Controversy, ed.  R Wolin, NY 1991, pp.  162-164), but
I fear that some of the sentiments in the current forum are on the brink
of slipping back into it.
