At the risk of stirring a hornet's nest of controversy, I would ask our colleagues to contemplate the guilt (if any) of all 14 million Germans who were expelled from Pomerania, the Prussias, Silesia, the Sudetenland, the Banat, the Voivodina, and other regions not mentioned in Mr. Wagner's letter. Aside from those who committed war crimes of various sorts, can they be held accountable for serving their country in wartime, however misplaced their loyalty may may have been? .
