    As a former student of Michael Geyer's, I wish to respond to Charles
McClelland's contribution.  It may be convenient for the purpose of argument
to imply that Michael and his students make up some sort of post-modernist
camp, but such a suggestion would be entirely inaccurate.

     Whether or not other historians wish to regard Michael as a postmodernist,
he has not pressured his students to follow any single historical philosophy
or method.  Some of his students might choose to identify themselves as
postmodernist.  Others would not.
