I concur in David Meier's caveats about seeing too close a correlation          
between "nationalism" and the Holocaust; a useful book seems to be: Peter       
Pulzer. _Jews and the German State. The Political History of a Minority,        
1848-1933_. Oxford UK: Blackwell, 1992; then there's Lucy Dawidowicz's          
book and an older study that I ran across only recently that illuminates        
the phenomenon of anti-semitism and politics from another angle: Christoph      
Stoelzl. _Franz Kafkas boeses Boehmen_ (1978, I think: I don't have it
