Do you have any ideas as to why the German historical community has been slower than many others to test the potential of e-mail and the Internet? One of our American members told me recently that he had spent the entire summer in Germany and had collected only one business card with an e-mail address. We have only around 10 or so members of H-German who have e-mail addresses in Germany, and would like to find some way to increase this number drastically. Is there insufficient computer support for academics in non-technical fields? Is there a general reluctance to embrace new technology in the historical community in Germany? Whatever the case, we would be grateful for any thoughts and suggestions on this matter (as always, contributions in German or English are welcome).
