The German photo and article magazine, STERN, had some articles on those SW AFrican events back in 1983-84. Also, I recall meeting a graduate student from SUNY Binghamton, working with Jean Quataert, who was doing something on the German colonization of South West Africa and the treatment of the Hereros.
