Editorial Policy:
The editors strive
to maintain a high-level, scholarly forum in which professionals
and qualified students in this field can exchange ideas and useful
information.
This is a moderated list, and in this sense we publish submissions,
and do not act as a conduit in a chat room. Given that H-Net maintains
a permanent day-by-day log of messages with a search engine open
to anyone, we consider H-Genocide messages as published materials.
The editors distinguish between editorship and censorship. The editors
make every effort to encourage a free exchange of ideas and decline
only those postings that might dilute the purpose of the list and/or
undermine the participation of experts, professionals, students,
and others. For example polemics, flames, messages that cross the
line separating historical scholarship from political advocacy and
lastly, ad hominem attacks. Inevitably, some messages may be returned
as either inappropriate or, more likely, for editing. Those emails
returned will be accompanied by an explanation. The editor's decisions
may, of course, be appealed, in which case the matter can be relayed
to the full editorial board for final adjudication.
