Ethiopia: Traditions of Creativity was a large exhibition, occupying over 3500 square feet of gallery space. Since Michigan State University Museum does not possess this much temporary gallery space, it was necessary to install roughly a third of the exhibition at Michigan State University's Kresge Art Museum, a quarter of a mile walk from the MSU Museum.

The split venue presented something of a challenge. Michigan State University Museum is a natural and cultural history museum, the Kresge, an art museum. Each institution attracts different visitors. The exhibit team anticipated that some visitors would not walk between the museums to view the entire exhibition and designed each installation to stand on its own. |
