I am just finishing up my Master's Thesis in American Indian
Studies at UCLA and am going into the PhD program in Geography in
the Fall. I am interested in mapping and evaluating American
Indian migration from "contact" to the present day. My Master's
Thesis concerns the migration patterns of the Cherokee Indians in
the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, using an
ethno-historical approach and leaning heavily upon the "voices"
of individual Cherokees. I am learning to use several GIS
programs and am especially interested in the application of this
technology to a greater understanding of American Indian
cultures.
