Here's another opinion.

Battle Ground is a district of about 10,000 students. We have choosen to
support a Macintosh only platform at the K-8 level and both (multiple)
platforms at the high school level. At the high school, where additional
support is obviously needed, I have trained students who can support both
platforms.

Also we have moved to a single hardware vendor on the Wintel side so our
support/repair/networking/purchasing costs are controllable.
