If you're not having problems downloading from other sites, such as ENC or
some local BBS (try it) and the problem seems confined to your AOL/Internet
connection, then it is fairly clear that AOL is at fault. Their software
often requires special fixes. Give their user help line a call and they'll
be able to help. I had a similar problem with CompuServe, which others
blamed on line noise, bad software, modem, etc., but when I did as the tech
instructed, all went well and continues to do so.
On the other hand, I don't have AOL any more because their tech service is
not as good as some other providers'.
