POSITION

Technology Coordinator

Reports to: Superintendent of Schools
Terms of Employment: 12 months
(This is a non-bargaining unit position)

SUMMARY

Performance responsibility: Responsibility for strategically planning
and managing the use, and infusion, of technology into the education
programs and operation management of the school district.

DESCRIPTION

A. Program Planning
1. Participate on the Strategic Planning Committee
2. Develop and Implement District-wide Technology Plan
3. Establish and Implement Standards for Software Applications
4. Design and manage an inventory system for hardware, software and
supplies.
5. Coordinate hardware and software purchases with assistance from
the appropriate District personnel and develop technology bid
specifications when necessary.
6. Prepare and manage the District's technology budget in
cooperation with the building-level administrators.
7. Facilitate a Preventative Maintenance and Repair Program
8. Maintain technical proficiency
9. Develop technology partnerships with other school districts and
higher education, community organizations and municipal entities.
10. Ensure community access to technical resources.
11. Assist with integrating technology in the curriculum through
participation in the curriculum development process.
12. Assist in the design and delivery of an on-going training
program for administrators, staff and teachers on the use of the
installed technology solutions involved in voice, video and data
communications.
13. Define and design training sessions for administrators, staff
and teachers on the initial trouble-shooting techniques for the
installed technologies.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Experience in technology planning and/or implementation.
2. Experience with DOS, Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
3. Experience with networks including AppleTalk, Ethernet, Token Ring.
4. Experience with network servers including Novell, AppleShare,
Lantastic.
