but the issue of what to use at the middle school level may
actually be a different issue. Have you tried HyperStudio? It
is a less expensive approach that allows students to create
multimedia reports and truly interactive presentations. Used in
a "linear", less interactive structure, students could use HS
to create the "typical" presentations for large groups...but
the beauty of HS is that students can create files that allow
the user to "explore" in a way that is most natural for him/her.

We use it extensively in our 5-6 school; all our other
schools K-12 have limited access to the program. It's fun to
use, fun to learn, and a really exciting tool.
