Macs and a Radius two-page display

Hi Folks,

Here I am with another question for you. I'm always greatful for your
opinions and suggestions.

My friend is visually impaired, and for eight years now she has been
using a Mac SE with a Radius TPD. Even with a new hard drive, the SE is
showing its age, and we've never been able to move beyond System 6.0.7.
The most useful features of this setup are the size of the TPD screen
and the ability to magnify on the SE. This allows Naomi to magnify dialog
boxes, especially the spell-check in Word.

We recently set out on our first shopping trip looking for "the same thing
only newer." Naomi is easy to please--let her do what she does now, but
with updated software, and a better communications program for her vax
account. As a writer, she uses Word extensively, and depends on the
internet for research. So...Radius can't tell her whether she could make
the old TPD work with a new Mac--probably a Power Mac.

A 17" or better display with the PMac is fine up to the point where you open
a dialog box, then it's no good. The side-by-side setup she has is wonderful
for the magnification feature. Any thoughts about this situation, or ideas
for a solution? I'm trying to keep this short, but still lay out the picture
for you.

Thanks for whatever.
